Marlene Edmonds began her career as research chemist for the FDA before transitioning to the industry side working in sales and business development at SmithKline Beecham and Bio-Pharm Pharmaceutics helping to launch several brands in CNS, CV, and anti-infectives.
Marlene went on to join Astra Merck and progressed through Forecasting and Market Research roles on Phase II/III compounds helping the team to determine the optimal go to market platform. Her success in these roles led to a New Products Marketing role and then on to a Senior Product Manager position on a blockbuster cardiovascular product for AstraZeneca.
In 2004, Marlene joined Shire as U.S. Product Director for both a mature epilepsy brand and a pre-launch product, Equetro, for bipolar disorder. Gaining the respect of the organization, she went on to lead preparations for Shire’s next launch, Vyvanse for ADHD, which included a significant multi-channel consumer effort. In 2008 and 2010, Marlene was named one of the top 25 DTC marketers by DTC Perspectives and Parade Magazine and accepted a number of team awards for the creative and programs she put in place. In 2010 the Vyvanse Team was named as Small Pharma Marketing Team of the Year by MM&M.
After leaving Shire, she has consulted on multiple product launches in CNS, weight loss, oncology. Her work has included overall launch planning, development of HCP and consumer strategy, positioning, and messaging; HCP and DTC campaign development and execution including multi-channel unbranded and branded tactics; and management of key consumer and HCP market research studies.
